Kevin O’Leary aka Mr Wonderful is a hard-nosed Canadian businessman who is well known for his sharp and often insensitive comments as one of the venture capitalists on Shark Tank.  I am not a great fan of the abrasive persona he has created on the show, although I do see that he is an essential ingredient for the show’s success, however this particular comment really resonated with me. How I started running

Running is an excellent way of getting fit, and it also helps you improve your mood and clear your mind

Over the last few years I tried to start running many times. Unfortunately however I never made much progress. I would start off, then get tired and give up, telling myself that I did not know what I was doing and most likely was doing it all wrong. It’s quite amazing the number of excuses that fall fully formed into your head when you decide you prefer to sit on the couch reading a book instead of going out and getting active!

Financial Independence bloggers churn out hundreds of posts about money every year. In the main the focus is on how to earn money, save money or invest money. Which all makes sense since the goal is ultimately to have enough money to finance whatever goals the bloggers might have for themselves.

A less common subject, however, is how to SPEND money, a topic which has always struck me as very important. For after all, what is the point of working so hard to have “enough” money if we do not then use it in order to buy happiness?

Happy New Year! My goals for 2018

2017 was a successful year. I plan to achieve even more in 2018!

Every year I take a few days off between Christmas and New Year and inevitably I mull over how I spent the previous 12 months and take stock of the successes and the failures, the good and the not so good . I also look ahead and plan what I would like to achieve over the coming 12 months.
