January Goal Update – I set some tough goals for 2018. Did I make any progress this month?

At the beginning of January I posted my goals for 2018.  It helps to actually define them and write them down, and posting them online will keep me accountable.

I thought about posting quarterly goal updates but frankly if things are going off track waiting three months to take action is simply too little too late. So I am going to go with monthly updates instead. That will definitely keep me on my toes!

Kevin O’Leary aka Mr Wonderful is a hard-nosed Canadian businessman who is well known for his sharp and often insensitive comments as one of the venture capitalists on Shark Tank.  I am not a great fan of the abrasive persona he has created on the show, although I do see that he is an essential ingredient for the show’s success, however this particular comment really resonated with me. Financial Independence bloggers churn out hundreds of posts about money every year. In the main the focus is on how to earn money, save money or invest money. Which all makes sense since the goal is ultimately to have enough money to finance whatever goals the bloggers might have for themselves.

A less common subject, however, is how to SPEND money, a topic which has always struck me as very important. For after all, what is the point of working so hard to have “enough” money if we do not then use it in order to buy happiness?
